Tall order still vacant

The world’s most expensive home has once again made headlines and caused a stir, but for quite different reasons this time. The custom-built 27-story skyscraper in Mumbai was built for the world’s fifth richest man, Mukesh Ambani, but he is yet to formally move in after it was completed last year.

Named ‘Antilla’, after the mythical island in the Atlantic, the home stands at 570 feet tall and was designed by architecture firms Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates, the designers behind the Mandarin Oriental. It includes six stories of parking, nine elevators, double height ceilings, ballrooms, crystal chandelier ceilings, a four-storey open garden, and entertainment halls with retractable stages, green rooms, entourage rooms, three helipads, an entire level dedicated to health with a swimming pool, yoga studio, and an ice room which is a cooled chamber dusted by man-made snow, to escape the Mumbai heat.

Although Mr Ambani, his wife Nita, and family, are yet to call Antilla home, the building has hosted movie screenings in the theatre and feasts in the grand ballroom.

Mukesh Ambani was named among the most powerful people in the world by Forbes in its list of "68 people who matter most".  He is the second richest man in Asia, the ninth richest man in the world, and has an estimated personal wealth of $27 billion.

A piece of the French countryside

An outstanding French inspired country villa is for sale on the Gold Coast for $4.9 million.

Set on 7.5 acres of sprawling landscaped grounds, and positioned on a private hilltop, the impressively scaled home showcases an exceptional level of craftsmanship and impeccable attention to detail throughout.

"It's a comfortable big home, where both family and friends can totally relax,” says Ken Jacobs Agent, Darren Curtis.

Named ‘La Campagne’, meaning ‘The Countryside’, the home was extensively renovated in 1999, and showcases 1200 square metres of living space with a distinctly European feel.

The residence includes an impressive master bedroom with a dressing room and a circular ensuite bathroom with double vanities, spa bath, electronic rain censored sky-lights and a curved glass shower recess. It also includes four further bedroom suites and three luxurious bathrooms, formal and informal lounge and dining rooms, chefs kitchen with a separate cool room, media room, basement wine cellar, library, secure double garage, laundry and gymnasium.

Outdoor facilities include a flood lit tennis court, resort-style swimming pool with water slide, stable block, and an entertainment terrace.

The property is located only 20 minutes from Surfers Paradise and only 300 metres from the famous Grand Golf Club.

'It is wonderful living in the country, yet being so close to everything the Gold Coast and Brisbane has to offer. The best of both worlds,” says Curtis.
