Real Estate Idol
Singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi, who has written hits for Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Meat Loaf, has put her California mansion up for lease.
The talented lady was also a judge on American Idol from 2009-2011, and is now the tough-but-fair Head Judge on songwriter reality show Platinum Hit. Her 7,600 sq ft abode has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, and proves that it is not just the music industry’s singers that are earning the big bucks.
A musician’s house would not be complete without a piano, and DioGuardi keeps hers in the formal living room, which has a stunning vaulted ceiling, parquetry floors, a fireplace and six arched French doors. The home is entered through a double-height foyer with an extravagant black and white marble floor, an excellent position for viewing the curving staircase and crystal chandelier.

Palm Beach Splendour
The $74 million asking price of a waterfront mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, has recently been described as ‘aggressive’, given the property’s proximity to airline paths and lack of direct access to yacht dockage or a private beach.
The French-chateau-style mansion features eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, cavernous entrance hall with a large central fountain, interiors designed for specific sculptures and artworks, parking space for 50 vehicles, a 12,000 sq ft motor court, 7,000 sq ft of loggias, six juice bars and French country kitchens.
The $74 million price tag makes the estate the most expensive listing in the Palm Beach area, which is famed for its enormous and magnificent properties. In 2008, nearby mansions sold for $68.5 million and $77.5 million, and Donald Trump ‘palmed’ off a property purchased in a bankruptcy sale for $41.35 million at an impressive $100 million.
Palm Beach property sales have suffered since the US economy declined, however, the splendour and value of properties such as this Palm Beach mansion seem to exist outside of marketplace trends.

Mark Wahlberg: Back on the Market
Actor Mark Wahlberg and his model wife Rhea Durham are trading in their Beverly Hills mansion for a property in the private gated community of Beverly Park, where the likes of Denzel Washington and Eddie Murphy live.
Wahlberg is famous for the iconic Calvin Klein underwear shots with Kate Moss, his roles in films such as Boogie Nights and Planet of the Apes, ties with 90s boy band New Kids on the Block, and, more recently, his role as executive producer for the hit TV series Entourage and Boardwalk Empire.
Wahlberg purchased the Beverly Hills mansion in 2001 for $4,950,000, and put it on the market in 2008 with an asking price of $15,900,000. It is now being marketed at $13,995,000 after Wahlberg received no offers in 2008.
The resort-like property features seven bedrooms, 10.5 bathrooms, a putting green, swimming pools, waterfalls, a two-storey gymnasium with a full size boxing ring and basketball court, a cinema with a 35mm digital projector and a range of terraces with mountain views.
