Emdur Scoops the Pool

Larry Emdur purchased an impressive Dover Heights mansion for $6.8 million.

The co-host of 'The Morning Show' and 'Weekend Sunrise' on Channel Seven will be waking up to 180 degree ocean views from his new palatial cliff-top home.

Emdur and his wife Silvie, bought the house from Lisa Krukziener Moss, the wife of Jeff Moss, founder of Packer-family owned fashion empire Pretty Girl.

The Moss family purchased the house for $7.1 million from artist Elaine Diamond, the widow of medico Robert Diamond. The Diamonds bought the property for the inverted figure of $1.7 million, and demolished the original house to rebuild the stunning modern residence that now stands.

The two-storey home has an impressive double height foyer, with a sweeping staircase. The main bedroom, which includes a marble ensuite, steam room and spa, overlooks the ocean. A view that can also be enjoyed from the infinity swimming pool.

The property shares a history with three of Australia’s power couples. A fabulous memento, worthy of Moss’s original asking price of $8.5 million.

Penthouse with Priceless View

A world-class penthouse residence in Sydney is expected to sell for at least $15 million.

The crowning glory of Harry Seidler’s city monument The Cove, the penthouse has an impressive view of the Darling Harbour and Sydney Opera House.

Owner, UK entrepreneur Graham Hellier, has spent millions upgrading the property after creditors foreclosed on the original owner - notorious Kovelan Bangaru. When Bangaru’s tradesmen realised they would not be paid for their work, they staged an attack on the property, ripping out much of the furnishings and pouring cement down the drains and the side of the building.

Hellier overcame this unfortunate beginning with style, commissioning award-winning designer William Smart to recreate the interior. Now restored to a state worthy of its size and location, the contemporary design has made the showcase, with its glamorous whole-floor rooftop, something to see.

The exceptional layout is at the forefront of technology, with fixtures and finishes sourced from all over the world. The vast glass interiors house a sequence of living zones, including four luxurious ensuite bedrooms including a masters retreat with spa, dressing room and terrace. An office and media room complete the abode.

The future buyer will not only enjoy the interiors of the penthouse, where no expense has been spared, but will also own a piece of the city’s skyline.

Great Gatsby Real Estate

Leonardo DiCaprio is Australia’s newest celebrity renter. The actor is making himself at home in Sydney while filming Baz Luhrmann’s $120 million take on The Great Gatsby.

DiCaprio, who starred in Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet in 1996, had scouts searching for suitable lodgings for him with an alleged weekly limit of $30,000 a week.

The high-earning actor settled on a stunning Luigi Rosselli-designed mansion in Vaucluse. The luxury abode boasts harbour views, a tennis court and an infinity pool. The five bedroom, five bathroom home will cost the actor a cool $10,000 a week.

The home is owned by businessman Alastair Walton and his wife Gilly, who paid $14.275 million for the property in 2002. The Waltons are known by the Sydney elite for their back terrace parties, making them suitable hosts for the newest Jay Gatsby.

Luhrmann’s decision to film F. Scott Fitzgerald’s literary classic in New South Wales, rather than the obvious choice of New York, has brought a surge of A-list actors to Sydney. The cast includes Toby Maguire as Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan.

The home is very suitable for entertaining and DiCaprio did just that when his current girlfriend, American actress Blake Lively, was recently in town to celebrate her birthday.
