Liz's Estate up for sale

The late Dame Elizabeth Taylor's Bel Air estate has reportedly been put on the market for nearly $8.5 million.

The Hollywood heavyweight bought the 1.2 acre home in 1981 and continued to live there until her death in March this year, at the grand age of 79.

The ranch-style house, which was previously been owned by Nancy Sinatra Snr, is spread over nearly 7,000 square feet. It features a living room with a beamed ceiling, an office which was the former screening room, and five bedrooms, including a master suite with the Dame’s signature colour, lavender.

The grounds include a swimming pool, Koi pond, greenhouse, and a terraced English garden.

Dame Elizabeth became one of the great screen actresses of Hollywood's Golden Age, first staring in ‘National Velvet’ (1944). She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for ‘Butterfield 8’ (1960). After she played the title role in ‘Cleopatra’ (1963), she married her co-star Richard Burton. They appeared together in 11 films, including ‘Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ (1966), for which Taylor won a second Academy Award. Her much publicized personal life included eight marriages and several life-threatening illnesses.
