The art of living luxuriously

Renowned International Artist, Ken Johnson, is selling his home in the hinterland of Byron Bay.

Ken, who hand built the home himself, has had his work displayed in Sydney’s Qantas Terminal, the Rialto Tower and Monash University in Melbourne, and won the 2007 Regional Art Award at the Plantation Sculpture Show.

The private five-acre estate draws on the artists passion for India and features many Rajistani details including 1000 year old sandalwood columns which frame the large central living space and the heart of this magnificent home. Other Haveli features include 500 year old doors, handmade basins and blue and white decorative tile detailing found around the fireplace and in the kitchen.

The property includes a five-bedroom main house with a gym and wine cellar, a separate two bedroom guest cottage, an artist’s studio, a Moroccan styled walled garden, covered outdoor dining room, and inviting pool area with an enormous Balinese pavilion.

The property is marketed at $6.5 million. For further information, visit Millionplus

Michael Douglas splashes some cash

Michael Douglas, and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, have recently bought a Colonial style mansion in Bedford, New York.

The actor, who reprised his infamous role of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street this year, reportedly bought the property in the prestigious area for $5.25 million.

Douglas, pictured with his daughter, announced in August his battle with throat cancer publically and confirmed that the cancer is at an advanced stage when he appeared on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ later that month. He has won three Golden Globes and two Academy Awards, and received an AFI Life Achievement Award in 2009.

According to the NY Post, the couple didn’t take the purchase lightly, spending the six months prior renting a similar five-bedroom house in the area first to make sure the purchase was the right move.

The 5.7 acre property includes a 6,300-square-foot home, pool, guesthouse,  pond, and three-car garage.

Greville Street's secret address

Only available, and visible, to a lucky few buyers in the know.

A rare chance to live outside the mainstream – a place where exciting things are happening in fashion music and lifestyle - is about to be launched in Prahran.

Deal Corporation is to launch a discrete six level apartment building in heart of Melbourne’s high fashion Greville St to be know appropriately as “Greville”. Deal Corporation Development Director Mr Michael Cornwell said the 56 apartments at 110-142 Greville St are very in keeping with the mood of the area.

“Residents walk straight off Greville St and into the café then slip quietly into the apartments,” he said.

Mr Cornwell said Plus Architecture has designed the north facing apartments to feature balconies and generous living space with the upper levels offering amazing views of the city skyline.
