Own your own French chateau
The overseas owners of a majestic French chateau-like mansion on exclusive Paradise Waters on the Gold Coast have put their ‘winter palace’ on the market.
The Hieber family purchased the property 2001 when it was a vacant allotment. France-based owner Larissa Hieber and her architect husband, Charles, built the amazing home that now graces a point position, near the Nerang River.
Located on an 1102 square metre allotment in Buccaneer Court, the four-level home includes five bedrooms, billiards room, media room, balconies with views across the water to Surfers Paradise, and luxuries such as electric curtains and an internal lift.
“The home has a variety of luxury bedrooms including two palatial master suites, six bathrooms, and, of course, its very own staff quarters,’’ says Lucy Cole of Lucy Cole Prestige Properties.
Outside, high security fences surround the landscaped gardens and citrus orchard. There is also a 25 metre lap pool, boat shed, workshop, large pontoon and private sandy beach.
“Rare Shivakashi granite adorns the grand staircase and the floor on the ground level while a grand atrium covers the entire formal living and dining areas,” says Lucy Cole.

King of your own castle
Ron Litherland, the founder of internet travel website Club Freedom, is seeking offers of more than $15.5 million for the European Gothic-inspired castle he had built on Sovereign Islands on Queensland's Gold Coast.
Agent George Bobolas says “I’ve had several interested parties inspect the property from different parts of the globe, one was a Russian businessman, another was a Sheik from Abu Dhabi, another was a Chinese property developer and finally an Australian billionaire.“
The estate occupies two waterfront blocks and features a European Gothic style four-level imitation castle. It includes seven huge bedrooms, nine bathrooms, two studies, a lift, a home theatre, a library and billiard room, a rooftop entertainment area, gymnasium with a sauna, and garaging for up to 20 vehicles.
“There have been several offers made on the property so far, but because of its irreplaceable position and superior building standards the seller is sticking to his guns,” says Bobolas.
Sitting on nearly 1,500 square metres, the grounds include a 30 metre pontoon and a wet edge pool in the form of a moat.
