$45mil ticket on Sydney's 'Altona'

One of Point Pipers coveted properties, which last sold in 2002 for $28 million, has been placed on the market for $45 million.

The properties name, ‘Altona’, comes from its early 1900s owner, Judge Augustus James, who named the property after his wife, Altona James.

The eight-bedroom, seven-bathroom property is regularly used as the venue for extravagant product launches and includes numerous terraces, a rooftop deck, heated pool, private jetty, sauna, with views over the harbour of the iconic bridge, opera house and surrounding spectacles.

The property, along with a neighbouring vacant block, was briefly listing for sale in 2007. Shopping centre mogul, David Lowy, and his wife, Margo, offered of $55 million for both properties, however this was rejected and the property was swiftly withdrawn from the market.

Current owners, Deke and Eve Miskin, intend to sell ‘Altona’ and develop the vacant block into their new family home.
