New horizons for Rodney Smorgan
Four years since moving on from the successful Smorgon Consolidated Industries Group, Australia's second-largest steel products manufacturer and distributor, Rodney Smorgon and property developer Daniel Marco have teamed up to construct a luxury home on the Gold Coast.
Mr. Smorgon, who now heads Smorgoncorp, entered the partnership after buying one of Mr. Marco’s homes on the Isle of Capri, in 2005.
The pair purchased 52 The Promenade about 18 months ago and demolished the older-style property making way for the new home, their first joint project.
“because of our mutual interest in property development and fine design, we decided to team up and create a signature property” says Smorgan
The home, designed by award-winning architect Bayden Goddard of BGD Architects, is situated on a 556sqm block and features approximately 500sqm of floor space. The master suite features a generous parents retreat, luxurious ensuite and large balcony with water views. There are a further three large double bedrooms, Bisazza mosaic tile pool, natural harbour with floating pontoon, boat shed, theatre room, study, self contained guest suite, powder room, laundry and triple garage.
Mr. Smorgon has developed numerous projects in Melbourne and is about to launch the marketing of a boutique apartment development in Trawalla Ave, Toorak which will feature six expansive and luxurious apartments, all with the features of a six star hotel including a 24 hour concierge.
